Gleason Reappointed to Iowa League of Cities Environmental Coordination Committee

Winnie Gleason, P.E., has been reappointed to the Iowa League of Cities Environmental Coordination Committee. She has served since the committee was formed in 2010. FOX Engineering is committed to involvement in committees and task forces that benefit our clients.

The Environmental Coordination Committee assists the League Executive Board and staff in reviewing, prioritizing and strategizing on the wide variety of environmental regulatory issues that emerge from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Membership includes a mixture of elected and appointed city officials as well as consulting engineers. The committee includes representation from such groups as the Iowa Water Environment Association, the Iowa Chapter of the American Public Works Association and other entities representing cities on environmental compliance issues.

Ms. Gleason joined FOX in 2007 with over 30 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering.   She worked for the city of Ames for many years; that familiarized her with the specific needs of municipal water and wastewater departments. Winnie has also worked in the private sector and for state environmental agencies. She specializes in assisting cities in developing pre-treatment agreements with their local industries. She has worked for many years with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to enable utilization of the Biotic Ligand Model (BLM) by POTWs with very low copper limits. The BLM is in the final stages of approval by the U.S. EPA. Please stay tuned for the final chapter on this important effort. https://foxeng.com/story-copper-water-vs-wastewater-part-4/?hilite=copper
