Winning for Your City!

Beginning with the 2016 League of Cities Annual Conference, FOX changed the usual giveaway routine; instead of keeping a token gift, the person whose name is drawn, wins $500 for their community. The winning name is drawn at the Opening Luncheon, sponsored by FOX.

Here’s how our winning cities used their money.

2016: City Clerk, Sally Hinrichsen, entered and won for her city, Monticello. With the city council weighing in, it was decided they would put the money toward a new sound system at the Berndes Center.

2017: City Clerk, Deb Light, is from Redfield. She was the winner of the 2017 drawing. She said the city is using the money to improve the employee breakroom.

September 13, 2018.  Alan Kemp, Executive Director of the Iowa League of Cities, drew Karen Clemens’s name from over 100 entries. Karen is the city clerk for New Hampton. At the December 18, 2018 City Council meeting, Karen received the check on behalf of the city. Karen recommended and the council approved the donation be designated to the TRIBE Trail that will run around New Hampton because it is “near and dear to my heart.” Steve Troyer, Vice President of FOX, attended the meeting to present the gift to the city.
